School Required Immunizations for Adolescents

West Virginia law requires a Tdap booster and meningococcal vaccine for students entering 7th grade. The Tdap booster adds additional protection against tetanus, diptheria, and pertussis (whooping cough). The meningococcal vaccine protects against meningitis types A,C,W and Y.
Students entering the 12th grade must have a second meningococcal vaccination (the first being given in 7th grade unless coming from another state who didn't require). The second meningococcal vaccination adds additional protection against meningitis.

In addition, we highly recommend HPV vaccination to protect against certain cancers, Men B vaccination to protect against the meningitis B strain which is not included in the initial meningitis shot, and Hepatitis A vaccine.

Our nurses will be holding immunization clinics at both middle schools and high school in March. To take advantage of this convenient access to immunizations, please complete the required form and return to the school nurse.
